Monday 30th October 2017, a day for some when dreams would come true and for others victory would slip from grasp. This was it, the culmination of months of training would come down to just four heats. Four races which would decide the course of history and crown the first ever Dragon World Champions!
Sunday 29th October 2017 – 5.00am – Despite the fact that the first rays of light were only just skimming the horizon, the day was already warm and the Red Paddle Co team were working hard to prepare for the day to come. Today was the result of 12 months preparation. Today was the start of the Dragon World Championship, a tournament which would crown the first ever team SUP champions!
$6,000 USD prize purse for the Dragon World Championships confirmed! The event will be the first of its kind and the first ever dedicated, global team race event. Taking place in Carlisle Bay, Barbados on 28th – 30th October 2017 the inaugural competition will see teams of all abilities, from all over the world battling it out to be crowned the victors.
The Red Dragon made an appearance at the SUP Festival in Latvia last week. With seven teams participating all completed two laps of a 7km course. With the final two teams battling it out in a head to head sprint to be crowned champion! It was team Gain Fast who conquered and came out victorious!
The beautiful coast of Cambrils, Spain hosted an epic Dragon World Series Event. With 11 teams turning out in full force to conquer the new team sport, the energy from participants and spectators were high.
The countdown has officially begun. There is now just 99 days until the Red Paddle Co Dragon World Championships, the first ever dedicated team global race event. Set to take place in the idyllic setting of Carlisle Bay in Barbados on 28th - 30th October 2017, it will be an event you do not want to miss! For the first time ever, Red Paddle Co Racing are inviting paddle boarders from all over the world to come together and compete in the inaugural Dragon World Series. Regional events will see teams of four battling it out across the globe, granting anyone who competes instant qualification to the Dragon World Championships.
The Japanese Dragon Series is in full swing as part of the Dragon World Series.
Since February Japan has hosted a series of events from the Hiroshima Etajma Dragon Race to the Kanagawa Fujisawa SUP Club Challenge in Shonan. The Euro Tour had an epic weekend in Hossegor with competitors playing in the waves.
The Hossegor Paddle Games 2017 was home to the brand new style of team racing delivered by Red Paddle Co due to its new dragon racing board. The 4 man board tackled the swell with ease as paddlers used all there skill to try and stay on. This event was fun and laughter for all and provided a challenge no one will forget.
The Red Dragon is taking Japan by storm as last week held the 5th battle at Lake Hamana. The level of competition was high as nine teams put up an impressive fight. It was Biwako Sapp Club who claimed the first prize, followed closely by Team K and Pirates & Reikle who held a respectable third place.
