One regular Saturday morning in the middle of Latvia in Vaidava, Koceni parish the largest dedicated SUP event "SUP Fests 2018" took place. With the weekend dedicated to SUP fun, racing and music, excitement was high for the ultimate team SUP race on the 22ft inflatable Red Paddle Co Dragon. Some teams had been training for months, some were formed on the spot (having to test their team spirit in just a few hours time), but all 11 teams were ready to take on the challenge to unleash the dragon.

With teams from Moscow, Tomsk, Tuapse, Sochi and Novorossiysk having victory within their grasp, anticipation was high as the semi-finals began. Following a burst of speed at the start and a neck and neck race, team Four Axes disappointingly fell into the water at the finish line. This led to them facing team Zmey Gorynich in the race for 3rd place which proved to be an epic battle.
'My favourite saying when getting a job done is "Team work is dream work" and it was never more true than the finals of the Red Dragon World Championship. Adrian, Tremayne, Jacob and I who regularly compete against each other joined forces and crushed it. Dream work indeed. Thanks Red.'
- Jason, Team Paddle Barbados
“At the Red Paddle Championships, I had the most fun and excitement I could have ever imagined at a race. I met and bonded with friends that share the passion for the sport from all over the world and came home with precious memories. The location was absolutely amazing and the event was super organized. The staff couldn't have been more supportive in helping me not only have the best race I could have had, but also an incredible experience of a lifetime. I've been impatiently going back to their website to check whether this year's schedule have been posted yet!”
